How to Eat Healthily and Lose Weight

The key to a good diet and maintaining a healthy weight is diversity. Put a rainbow on your plate by including foods of different hues. Nutritionally dense foods include dark greens, citrus fruits, tomatoes, and even fresh herbs.

Fruit

Fruits are delicious whether they are fresh, frozen, or tinned. Mango, pineapple, and kiwi fruit are just some of the other fruits you should try. If you’re craving fruit but it’s out of season, consider a canned, frozen, or dry kind instead. It’s important to remember that dry and canned fruits may have syrups or sugars added to them.

Vegetables

Grilled or cooked veggies may be spiced up with a herb like a rosemary. Vegetables are delicious when sautéed in a nonstick pan with a little of cooking spray. Or, you could microwave some frozen or canned veggies and have a ready-to-eat side dish in no time.

Meals That Make You Feel Good

Even if they’re heavy in fat, sugar, or calories, you can still eat the foods you love. The trick is to limit your intake to once per few weeks.

These are some guidelines for making comfort foods:

  • Have them less often.
  • Reduce your portion size.
  • Attempt a reduced-calorie variant.
